Marching Legions slot is the newest release from Relax Gaming

July 11, 2020 by Admin

A new title from Relax Gaming is rare compared to the general pace set by the rest of the game development industry, so news of a new slot from this studio is always welcome and highly anticipated news.  Marching legions is their latest slot release and promises to match the high standard of all their previous work.

First look

The theme of the game is inspired by the famous military legions of Rome. The marching legion soldiers feature as symbols on the reels alongside historical roman weapons and gear. The game is set on a 5×3 grid and features 243 paylines.

Gameplay test

Of the game’s vital statistics, the RTP of 98.12% is among the most impressive, sitting at around 2% above the industry average. Your betting range for the slot starts at $0.10 and tops out at $100.

There are several bonus features to help you achieve the highest possible win. The first of these is the nudge feature which forces legionnaire stack symbols which land only partially on the reels to appear fully. A full legionnaire stack will trigger Marching Respins which gives you perpetual respins until no more legionnaire symbols appear on the reels.

Your wins will fill up a 5-segment collect meter which will award you free spins once all the segments are filled. The final feature is the bonus buy where you can buy free spins at the relatively high cost of 120 times your stake.

Marching Legions will be available at all casinos that offer Relax Gaming titles, with LeoVegas being one of the top recommended ones.

Evolution Gaming unleashes Crazy Time

July 7, 2020 by Admin

Evolution Gaming, well known as live casino game specialists, thrilled audiences at ICE London with the reveal of Crazy Time. Billed as ‘the most fun casino game ever created,’ the title has been lauded for its striking visual style and unique mechanics. The game show-style presentation entertains while offering the chance at big wins.

Crazy Time has lived up to all the expectations and hype from its ICE London reveal, now that it has been released for public play. This game includes four bonus games, varying player interaction opportunities, enriching multipliers, and an immersive game show experience.

Nuts and bolts

Crazy Time stays true to its name by providing an over-the-top experience with some borrowed elements, such as the spinning money wheel which was previously seen in Evolution Gaming’s Dream Catcher. This isn’t a case of pure duplication as the spinning money wheel has been modified to include four bonus bets.

The bonus bet rounds have Pachinko, Crazy Time, Cash Hunt, and Coin Flip for you to play. These are all separate mini-games with their own specific presentation.

The development of this title was a triumph of ambition and many challenges were overcome to bring it to life. A spokesperson for Evolution Gaming revealed that this is the most expensive project the company has ever taken on.

Top-notch

The spokesperson further explained that the live casino game took over a year of production to bring it to the industry showcase, before its launch. Various teams collaborated, utilizing the latest technology to reach their combined objective. The result is an exhilarating mix of augmented reality, large scale Random Number Generator mini-games with an astounding variety that has delighted players worldwide.

Todd Haushalter, the studio’s chief executive product officer revealed that the central concept behind Crazy Time was creating an experience that is as engaging as watching the most popular TV game shows. According to him, this was achieved by packing as much variety as possible into the game and providing constant opportunities for ‘audience’ interaction.

The game available to play now and is rapidly gaining a dedicated fan base.

New Zealand casinos back in business

June 16, 2020 by Admin

Following an initial period of gradual re-opening, casinos in New Zealand are now open for business and free of any pandemic-related restrictions. This follows Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern dropping the nation’s alert status to its lowest level after several weeks free of new COVID-19 cases.

Coronavirus and NZ

The country’s first COVID-19 case was discovered on February 28th and since then; the nation has reported a total of 1,504 infections and 22 deaths.

The last known case was observed on May 24th with the final recovery being recorded on June 8th. The nation is tentatively proud to be a global exception, having freed itself from the deadly pandemic.

Threat levels

New Zealand created a special set of threat levels to aid in its fight against COVID-19. The levels themselves are quite detailed, but this is a summary of the most impactful measures.

Level 4 – Lockdown

  • Citizens should stay home, except for essential movements.
  • Closure of public venues and prohibition of public gatherings.
  • Institutions of learning are closed.
  • Except for essential services, all businesses are closed.

Level 3 – Restrict

  • Individuals maintain a distance of at least 2 meters from other people outside of the home.
  • Work from home wherever possible.
  • Schools opened at limited capacity.
  • Gatherings up to 10 people are permitted.

Level 2 – Reduce

  • Gatherings up to 100 people are allowed.
  • Businesses may reopen to the public.
  • Sports and recreation activities are back on the cards.
  • A physical distance of 2 meters in public and 1 meter in the workplace must be maintained.

Level 1 – Prepare

  • Restrictions on personal movement and domestic travel are all waived.
  • Schools and workplaces may reopen completely.
  • Any size of gathering is permitted.
  • International borders remain closed.
  • Intensive testing.
  • Rapid contact tracing for any positive cases.

SkyCity opens its doors again

SkyCity was forced to close its Queenstown, Hamilton, and Auckland casinos on March 23rd. They were, fortunately, able to reopen on May 14th on condition that they maintained certain safety measures:

  • Elimination of “back betting.”
  • The gaming floor was divided into zones, with a limit of 100 people in each zone.
  • Fewer seats at gaming tables.
  • Increased distance between pokies.
  • Casino access restricted to premier rewards members.

With the alert level being lowered, casinos can now operate restriction-free. Social distancing guidelines are a thing of the past, so both table games and electronic machines can resume normal operations.

Aside from its Queenstown venue, SkyCity properties are also due to resume normal business hours. The group’s Adelaide location is likely reopening in late June or early July, as Australia makes progress in its battle against coronavirus.

Online gaming boom

The drop-off in business seen by land-based casinos has been inversely mirrored by the growth of online gaming. SkyCity’s online gaming platform has helped the group mitigate the effect of the closure of its venues. The site saw explosive growth with 21,000 new customers signing up as of May 31st; a significant number of the new members are younger players.

The relaxing of restrictions is great news for New Zealand, which has a strong gaming culture that rivals even Australia. Recent studies have reported that New Zealanders spend more than $2 billion per year on various forms of gambling.

SkyCity workforce cuts

The reopening, unfortunately, comes too late for many now-unemployed former employees. Factors resulting from the nationwide lockdown, including reduced disposable income, a weaker economy, and a ban on travel into the country prompted SkyCity to launch an employee reduction scheme which is projected to save the company close to $50 million annually.

The most recent cut saw 700 staff members being let go.  SkyCity has indicated that in the interim it intends to focus on operating as a “smaller, domestically-focused business.”

New Zealand casinos abandon Coronavirus social distancing measures

June 13, 2020 by Admin

New Zealand casino operator SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited has broadcasted that its 3 gambling-friendly facilities have been fully re-opened without Coronavirus-related social distancing protocols.

In an official filing, the corporation revealed that this decision followed the New Zealand government’s amendment of its four-tier Coronavirus alert warning to Level One. This effectively eliminates all of the previous national pandemic-associated restrictions except those concerning foreign travel.

Synchronized shutdown

SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited has casinos in the New Zealand districts of Auckland, Hamilton, and Queenstown and was mandated by the government to temporarily cease operations at these three venues from March 23 as part of a government-led campaign to curb the spread of a Coronavirus strain that killed 22 locals.

Reopening with caution

The operator was permitted a partial re-opening of these venues in May, under a new governmental ‘health management framework’ which required that gaming floors be split into distinct ‘zones’ that could not simultaneously contain any more than 100 people. The distance between slot machines was increased, and the number of seats at their gaming tables was reduced.

Back to normal

SkyCity CEO, Graeme Stephens, declared in the short filing that all of the mass gathering and social distancing constraints had been removed and that his firm’s venues would soon be returning to ‘normal hours’, resuming their regular promotions and events. He seemed upbeat at the prospect of getting back to work.

“We are extremely excited to be welcoming real money casino players back to our precincts. It will be fantastic to be busy again and able to have the public enjoy the many different facets of our properties. We remain committed to maintaining robust health and safety standards to manage the risks associated with coronavirus and will be encouraging customers to maintain contact tracing via the government’s NZ COVID Tracer app.”

June 5, 2020 by Admin

Absolootly Mad is the newest title in Microgaming’s Mega Moolah series but has already paid out over $9.5 million in progressive jackpots this May. Earlier in June, Atlantean Treasure another new slot in the same series awarded a progressive jackpot worth more than $7.7milliion to a lucky player.

Three days, two amazing prizes.

Microgaming’s Facebook pages shared the news of the two Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah life-changing jackpots with their fans. The first fortunate player won a $6.59 million jackpot on 24 May while playing the new slot. It only took 3 more days for another major winner to emerge, on 27 May, the same game handed another massive win of almost $3 million to another player.

Absolootly Mad brings the magic of Alice in Wonderland to the Mega Moolah series of progressive slots. It features the Mad Hatter as its main character, giving players the chance at super prizes with its progressive jackpots on a 5 reel, 243 ways to win format.

Another generous title

In early June, Atlantean Treasures created another multi-millionaire. This aquatic adventure-themed slot rewarded a player with an enormous progressive jackpot of nearly $7.8 million. The Atlantean Treasures slot’s layout is a standard 5×3 reel formation with 10 paylines.

Both of these new titles were launched in 2020, making the amount they have already paid out even more remarkable. The Microgaming progressive jackpot has dropped over $1.1 billion in prizes since its first appearance. The first Mega Moolah slot is now a world-famous title, often referred to as a “million-maker” and these latest additions to the series are already building a similar reputation with generous payouts and a lot more sure to come.

Pragmatic Play unleashes Bronco Spirit pokie

May 29, 2020 by Admin

The American Plains in the 17th century were the domain of free-running wild horses running free in the untamed wilderness between the settlements of the tribes of the First Nations. This bygone era has been brought back to vivid life in the new Bronco Spirit pokie.

Bronco Spirit, from Pragmatic Play, seeks to emulate the atmosphere of historical North America through intricate, hand-drawn artwork with an enchanting soundtrack. The game’s backdrop features a canyon-strewn landscape bathed in the colour of sunset and dotted with cacti and tall grass. The passionately precise attention paid to depicting the land and culture is carried through to the symbols. The symbols include a tomahawk, pipe, drum, fire, and a beautiful native woman.

Fantastic features

Beyond its beautiful facade, Bronco Spirits heart is a 5 reels, 4-row, 75 payline system, enhanced by special features, that focus on progressive multipliers, Free Spins, and a wealth of additional perks.

The medium-variance game’s stand-out feature is the Free Spins bonus round. Matching 3 or more bonus symbols presents you with an intriguing choice. You get to choose between getting 15 Free Spins, having 4 Wilds added to the reels, or a combination of 5 Free Spins with 7 Wilds on the reels.

Western inspiration

Pragmatic Play’s Chief commercial officer, Melissa Summerfield, praised the pokie’s enthralling artwork, calling the internal team that created the visuals some of the most talented in the industry.

She added that the pokie was the result of an upsurge of interest in Wild West-themed titles. She confirmed that Bronco Spirit is the developer’s answer to this rising trend; however, she made no mention of any future similarly-themed titles.

With regular pokie releases at least 4 times a month, Pragmatic Play has a thrilling year ahead for us.
